About the Faculty of Business, Communication Studies and Aviation
The Faculty of Business, Communication Studies and Aviation has approximately 4,000 students and includes the EFMD-accredited Bissett School of Business and the School of Communication Studies. The Bissett School of Business offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with majors in General Management, Human Resources Management, Accounting, Finance, International Business, Supply Chain Management, and Marketing. Aviation is also part of the Bissett School of Business. The Aviation programs include a Bachelor of Aviation Management (BAM), an Aviation Diploma, and a flight school at our Springbank Aviation Campus. The School of Communication Studies offers a Bachelor of Communication Studies with majors in Journalism and Digital Media, Broadcast Media Studies, Information Design, and Public Relations. In addition to the degrees and majors offered in the Faculty, students may take a variety of minors, concentrations, and certificates to complement their major.
About the Department of Innovation and Marketing
The Department currently offers a degree program in Business Administration with a major, minor and certificate in Marketing, and minors and concentrations in both Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation.
The Bachelor of Business Administration – Marketing program develops marketing professionals who can effectively blend insight, strategy, and creativity to bring extraordinary products, services, and campaigns to the marketplace. Students are exposed to marketing in many experiential learning settings and work with real-life clients including non-profit organizations, marketing agencies, start-ups, large corporations, and in-house marketing teams across a variety of industries.
The Department has undergone an intensive review for the BBA. As a result, the marketing program is enhancing the creative and strategic strengths of our learning community, developing robust and rich connections between students and our professional community through work integrated learning, and improving the focus on delivering applied skills to augment students’ job market readiness and to align the program with the university’s commitment to providing enriched learning opportunities beyond the traditional curriculum.
About the Role
The Department of Innovation and Marketing, Faculty of Business, Communication Studies and Aviation at Mount Royal University invites applications for a 2-year limited-term position in Marketing which will commence August 15th, 2026, subject to final budgetary approval, at the rank of Assistant Professor.
New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/scholarship/service pattern (TSS) focuses on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be involved in a research program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/service pattern (TS) focuses on teaching and service only. The successful candidate for this role will be hired into the teaching/service pattern (TS).
The preferred candidate must have the qualifications and experience described below:
- A terminal degree (Ph.D., DBA, etc.) in marketing or a closely related field is preferred. A minimum of a Master's degree is required.
- Related industry experience in the field of marketing or related fields is preferred.
- The successful applicant should demonstrate excellence in teaching.
- Capacity to initiate and actively collaborate with colleagues, community and industry partners in work-integrated and experiential learning approaches to teaching at the undergraduate level.
- Demonstrated expertise in marketing sufficient to teach courses at both introductory and senior levels.
- Additional expertise in areas such as marketing analytics, marketing strategy, AI in marketing, and/or emerging trends in marketing is an asset.
